Citizens' Police Academy

The Miramar Police Department’s Citizens’ Police Academy is a series of classes designed to educate the public about police operations within the city of Miramar. Classes are taught in a classroom setting where citizens are provided with a better understanding of the day to day operations of the police department and receive valuable information on such topics as: crime prevention programs, DUI enforcement, and economic crimes. A Ride-Along program is also available to qualified participants allowing them to ride with an officer during a regular patrol shift.

How to Apply

Class Size
The Citizens’ Police Academy is currently restricted to no more than 25 participants. Applicants who have been denied admission based on space are encouraged to reapply for the next class. Because space is limited, we ask that applications should only be submitted by those individuals who can commit to attending the 14 weeks.

Academy Schedule

Classes are one evening a week, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. for fourteen weeks. A copy of the schedule will be mailed out once your application has been approved.
