Art In Lockdown Image - Fortunate DNA

"Art In Lockdown "

featuring the Kindred Collections of Interwoven Breast Cancer Art and Sheltered-In-Place Pandemic Art

Curated by Alina Ko

Cancer and COVID-19 both pose similar challenges.  One in eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetimes, the worldwide pandemic is still raging and has impacted all lives. Everyone is acquainted with someone who is struggling with illness.  Yet however dim the landscape of cancer and coronavirus may be, they cannot defeat resilience.  Art-In-Lockdown celebrates artwork that inspires awareness.

Art-In-Lockdown exhibition promotes the truth of Art as a Healer.

OCTOBER 25, 2021 - DECEMER 21, 2021

Art-In-Lockdown Exhibition chronicles the challenging time we find ourselves living through. Drawing parallels between cancer and COVID-19, Art-In-Lockdown exhibition explores their similar journeys. Depictions of poignancy, evocativeness, renewal and awakening are displayed with the hope of facilitating healing in difficult times.Art In Lockdown Image Healing Anhata

From Fita de Rojas, a powerful installation created by Gustavo Garcia that features portraits of 1296 people affected by cancer, to other artworks, in several media, from many artists, this exhibition reflects the spirit of our charity-- Florida Breast Cancer Foundation.  FBCF’s mission is to save lives of those impacted by breast cancer by supporting scientific research, community education, public policy through advocacy, and community-based organizations.  This exhibition was inspired by our honoree Sandra Perini, an artist and woman of faith who died of metastatic breast cancer in February 2019.
