Miramar’s Sherman Circle gets $2.4M upgrade - South Florida Sun-Sentinel
Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne, the point person for the Sherman Circle improvements, recognized the dedicated, hard work that the staff has accomplished over five years. “This is more than just a wall that we have built on Pembroke Road and on Miramar Boulevard,” Colbourne said. “We have truly revitalized this area. Our staff works every day and they do a lot of great things. They’re constantly busy, and sometimes they don’t really take the time to see the impact of what they have been doing. So this ribbon-cutting gives us an opportunity to take a look at what we’ve accomplished.” Miramar Vice Mayor Yvette Colbourne recognized the hard work that the staff has accomplished over the five years.(Scott Luxor / Contributor) Her comments reflected on the collaborative, inclusive process the city used to accomplish its undertaking.

Commissioner Colbourne Statement Ending DACA Program
The fate of the Deferred Action Plan for Childhood Arrivals policy hangs in the balance as our president considers ending the program that protects thousands of young immigrants from deportation.
This action is so far from the values and beliefs of our country. A country that has accepted with open arms immigrants throughout the ages from every corner of the world.
Immigrants come here to realize their dreams and in the process of doing so, they become productive and responsible citizens of our communities contributing to industry and commerce.
With the six (6) month deferment that accompanies our president’s decision to end this for our friends and neighbors, it is up to us to implore upon our congress to prevent this travesty to these innocent young people and the destruction of the very fiber of our country. I stand with dreamers and so should you.
