Project 6: Pembroke Road Widening from Dykes Road to Silver Shores Boulevard

This is a Broward County project in partnership with Miramar and Pembroke Pines.  The project will consist of the widening of Pembroke Road from a two-lane roadway to a four-lane roadway between Silver Shores Boulevard and Dykes Road. The project also includes the construction of an eight-foot-high noise wall along the south side of Pembroke Road from Silver Shores Blvd. to Silver Shores Park.

The project started construction early 2018 and expected to be completed by the end 2019.

Project 7: Homestead Extension FL Turnpike (HEFT) Widening

This is an FDOT project with approximate construction cost of $143 million. Work started in late 2018 and is anticipated to be completed in summer of 2022. The project scope includes:

  • Widening Turnpike from four to eight lanes
  • Constructing sound walls along qualifying communities, including Country Club Ranches
  • Improving signage, pavement markings and lighting
  • Intersection improvements at:
    • NW 57th Avenue/Red Road
    • NW 27th Avenue/University Drive
  • Widening the following bridges:
    • Flamingo Road
    • NW 47th Avenue/Palm Avenue
    • NW 37th Avenue
    • NW 27th Avenue/University Drive
    • Snake Creek Canal

Project 8: SR 7/US 441 Improvement Project



This is an FDOT project with a construction cost of $30 Million. The construction started in early 2015 and expected for completion by spring 2019. The project scope includes: 

  • Adding lanes and reconstructing SR 7/US 441 
  • Removing existing asphalt and repaving the roadway 
  • Constructing new retention ponds and drainage system 
  • Installing new water and sewer lines 
  • Installing new bus bays at current bus stops 
  • Installing new curbs and gutters 
  • Reconstructing sidewalks 
  • Installing new pedestrian traffic signs and signals 
  • Installing medians 
  • Improving signalization and lighting 

Project 9: Pembroke Road / Miramar Parkway Extension to US 27



This project includes the construction of four lanes of Pembroke Road from SW 184 Avenue to US 27 and the extension of Miramar Parkway from SW 192 Terrace to Pembroke Road. 


This project is included in the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (MPO) 2040 Long Range Transportation Plan. Broward MPO approved FDOT's work program for FY 19-23 with Pembroke Road Extension project included.  This project will have a funding of $210,000 in FY 2020 for Feasibility study and $675,000 in FY 24 for PD&E Study.  Design and construction is not currently funded.  The Cities of Miramar and Pembroke Pines are working together to identify grant funding opportunities to accelerate the design and construction schedule of this segment of roadway.
