What’s in a Name? …….According to the Miami Maintenance Management Council (MMMC) a growing constituency. It’s name change to the South Florida Aviation Maintenance Council (SFAMC), comes with a merger that bridges the Miramar Aviation Consortium with its group.
"Our name change and merger with the Miramar Aviation Consortium exemplifies the growth of the organization as well as the aviation industry in the region. In South Florida, numerous large and small aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) companies, as well as auxiliary and support companies are based in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties,” said Kim L. Merced, President of the South Florida Aviation Maintenance Council.
“The Miramar Aviation Consortium’s mission has been to create an interactive aviation community, one that provides a sustainable environment via networking, knowing your aviation neighbors and providing guest speakers with relevant information to assist in economic growth for each company and the community. This is an excellent merger of organizations to further enhance the overall presence of the aviation community of South Florida,” said Mitch Weinberg, President of International Aircraft Associates, Inc. and founder of the Miramar Aviation Consortium.
City of Miramar Mayor Wayne Messam said, “We are excited that the City of Miramar’s Aviation Consortium is becoming part of the South Florida Aviation Maintenance Council. By taking a regional, collaborative approach and sharing resources and best practices, this multi-billion dollar industry will only grow stronger in our City and throughout South Florida.”
“The Alliance looks forward to working closely with the SFAMC to build the aviation industry in Broward County and across South Florida,” said David Coddington, Vice President of Business Development for the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance. “Aviation is an important targeted industry for Florida and our region in particular is known worldwide for having one of the strongest workforces in the nation.”
