The City of Miramar was presented with a special recognition for outstanding performance in Utilities from the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (FSAWWA)/ (AWWA). The City received this honor alongside eight (8) other municipalities the Florida Section of AWWA selected for this annual award.
Utilities are categorized by FSAWWA into divisions, by the number of service connections they produce. The City’s connections range from 30,000 to 45,999, placing it in the division 5 category. The criteria for this special recognition honor involved assessing core performance areas of:

•Operations Records
•Maintenance
•Professionalism
•Safety
•Emergency Preparedness
•Cross Connection / Control Program
“The continuing expansion of The City’s Reclaimed Water Program, Water Conservation Program, Public Outreach and Education Program, Proactive Leak Detection Program, Ongoing Safety Training Program, alongside the continuous hard-work and dedication of the entire City of Miramar utility staff, executive management team and the City Commission, have all contributed receiving this Award,” stated Jody Kirkman, Director of City Utilities.
