[ARCHIVED] CITY WATER LEAK DETECTION PROGRAM IS GREENLIGHTED, CONTINUING INFRASTRUCTURE PRIORITIZATION

The City of Miramar Commission unanimously voted to expand its Water Leak Detection Program at its’ March 8th 2017 meeting.  This expansion continues improvements designated for city-wide infrastructure. The program started in 2016, implemented an active process to detect underground leaks and repair them prior to their surfacing.  The vote extended a contract initially established with M & M Asphalt Maintenance (“M&M”), to address these matters.

The task of water leak detection and repair requires the removal of certain parts of roads and sidewalks to administer restoration. The process to do so is a proactive measure that not only reduces water loss, but provides good public safety.

City Utilities Department affirmed the decision to continue the program to the Commission, after they enlisted professional expertise to perform an acoustic survey. The three-month survey incorporated approximately 80 miles of pipeline and thousands of service connections throughout the city. The survey also represents the results of key checks and balances accompanying the Water Leak Detection program.  It is active measures like these that continue to ensure …….It’s Right Here in Miramar™.
