[ARCHIVED] ANSIN SPORTS COMPLEX GETS UPGRADED TO PROMOTE UTILIZATION TO ATHLETES OF VARIED ABILITIES

Ansin Sports Complex (10801 Miramar Boulevard) will receive exciting new facility upgrades to increase the visitor experience for individuals with unique abilities; and provide the state of the art facility with certain American with Disabilities Act (“ADA”) recreational enhancements. The City’s Parks and Recreation Department successfully completed a grant challenge from the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (“FDEP”) to make these enhancements possible.

As a result, Ansin Sports Complex will soon include ADA improvements that will implement fitness stations on trails; elevate picnic areas; its’ playground and basketball court.

FDEP’s Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program (“FRDAP”) grant has provided  $110,000 in grant dollars towards the implementation of these efforts.

At the City of Miramar’s March 8th Commission meeting, the Parks and Recreation Department disclosed FDEP’s grant award and funding preparations.   Funding for this project has led the City to appropriate more than $1,365,782 to Ansin Sports Complex Enhancements in the Capital Improvement Program Budget Fund for Fiscal Year 2016-17.  The city’s receipt of the FRDAP grant award requires the city to budget 25% of the project cost.  As the total project cost is $146,666;  $36,666 is the city’s total cost commitment in this right.
