The City of Miramar provides solid waste and recycling as an essential City service. On July 6, 2017 the City of Miramar Commission Board approved an amendment to its existing contract for these services at its board meeting. This change has enlisted Waste Pro, the City’s contract provider, with billing and collection of payments for commercial solid waste services under the City’s contract. In doing so, commercial customers will now directly engage with Waste Pro on issues related to their accounts.
City Public Works and Finance departments brought this important servicing update to Commission as a positive contract change to efficiencies for customers and their processes in this category. They include but are not limited to direct engagement on impactful issues like service level changes to more effective responses to billing-related concerns.
There will be no fiscal impact to the City as a result of the transition, and all future costs relative to billing and collection of payments for commercial solid waste services shall be borne by Waste Pro as part of their operational expenses. Finally, as an added measure, the City will audit and inspect Waste Pro’s records, at its expense, as an added layer of accountability.
