[ARCHIVED] CITY OF MIRAMAR JOINS IN CELEBRATING THE NATIONAL ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF INDIAN AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH

The City of Miramar Commission confirmed the addition of Indian American Heritage Month to its schedule of community acknowledgements of nationally recognized periods via resolution at its board meeting on August 3, 2017.  This confirmation came timely ahead of Indian American Heritage Independence on August 15, 2017.  This year commemorates the 71st anniversary of India’s independence.

During August, the influence of Americans hailing from the country of India and the Indian subcontinent, or with ancestral ties to the country of India or the subcontinent (“Indian Americans”), are observed in all facets of American life, including entrepreneurship, the arts, medicine and education.  This appreciation extends itself to Indian Americans who have settled and thrived in the United States through their strong family ties, community support, and rich cultural heritage; and to those that have made and continue to make immeasurable contributions to the social and economic life of our community.

The addition of Indian American Heritage Month yet again chronicles the diversity that the City of Miramar enjoys and spotlights why…..It’s Right Here In Miramar™.
