[ARCHIVED] DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION ENHANCES PEDESTRIAN & BICYCLIST MOBILITY IN THE HISTORIC SECTION OF MIRAMAR

In a constant
pursuit to maintain its mantra of being the Cityof Beauty and Progress, the City of Miramar Commission approved a
resolution on August 3, 2017 to improve the appearance of and enhance pedestrianand bicyclists’ mobility in the Historic section of the City.  

 

The project
known as the Historic Downtown Revitalization Project will impact MiramarParkway Streetscape, from SW 68 Avenue to SW 69 Way.  The total cost of the project is $1,460,369. It
will include constructing median and streetscape improvements, sidewalks, bikelanes, ADA-compliant concrete ramps and cross walks at street intersections,
pedestrian level lighting, landscaping and irrigation along Miramar Parkwaybetween SW 68 Avenue and SW 69 Way. 

 

These
improvements will extend themselves to drainage improvements along SW 69 Way,adjacent to Shirley Branca Memorial Park. Miramar City Commission’s approval of this project assigned H.G.Construction, Development, and Investment, Inc. as the job’s contractor via a
competitively bid process.  The City’sConstruction and Facility Management department will manage this exciting
improvement project.
