[ARCHIVED] BEAUTIFICATION PLANS FOR HISTORIC MIRAMAR SCHEDULED TO ENHANCE TRAFFICWAY AND PARKWAY ILLUMINATION

On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, Miramar City Commission approved the funding of several enhancements for Historic Miramar as part of planned efforts under the City’s Historic Downtown Revitalization Project outlined for Fiscal Years 2015-2019 Capital Improvement Program Budget. This project will impact the area of Miramar Parkway Streetscape, from SW 68 Avenue to SW 69 Way.

The scope of the Project includes constructing median and streetscape improvements, sidewalks, bike lanes, ADA-compliant concrete ramps and cross walks at street intersections, pedestrian level lighting, landscaping and irrigation.

Miramar Parkway between State Road 7 and University Drive is a public trafficway that is classified as a Broward County (‘County”) owned roadway. In respect to this project, the County and City agreed that it is of mutual benefit to illuminate the trafficway by installing a lighting system.   Under the County and the City’s Traffic Illumination agreement, the City will be responsible for the continued maintenance of the improved roadway segment lighting system. The County will retain the ownership of the right-of-way and be responsible for the maintenance of the roadway, sidewalks and storm drainage system.
