The City of Miramar Commission made it official at its board meeting on November 27, 2017 that it is excited about the American Tennis & Education Foundation (“ATEF”) being added to the reasons why It’s Right Here In Miramar™; when it approved a Comprehensive Agreement and Agreement for Ground Lease with the ATEF for the proposed ATEF National Tennis Center, Tennis Hall of Fame Museum and a Hotel in the Miramar Regional Park (16801 Miramar Pkwy, Miramar, FL 33027).

A Florida Not-for-Profit Corporation, the ATEF, plans to construct a facility that will include the following key elements:

 Tennis Parcel (+/-8 acres)

-       12 standard 78’-length tennis courts (6 hard-surface and 6 clay-surface).

-       1 standard hard-surface stadium court with accommodations for up to 3,000.

-       Clubhouse facility including locker rooms, treatment areas and fitness areas.

-       Up to 20,000 square feet of exhibition space for display of items related to historically significant people, events and items in the sport of tennis.

-       Office not to exceed 5,000 square feet of floor area for use exclusively by the ATEF and the American Tennis Association (ATA).

Project Scope – Hotel (+/-4 acres)

-       Not more than 125 room “upper midscale” brand/chain limited service hotel.

The development of this facility comes with early support from Broward County and its tourism division, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (GFLCVB). Miramar Mayor Wayne M. Messam commented on the city’s commitment to the legacy project stating that, “The city is super excited that the American Tennis Association is one step closer to making the City of Miramar its headquarters.”

The American Tennis Association stands as one more reason the community will know… It’s Right Here in Miramar™!
