At the Miramar Commission board meeting on February 21, 2018, the Commission voted to move forward with officiating a Sister City relationship with Belize City; a municipal corporation, located in Belize District in Belize, Central America (“Belize”). This process was affirmed with the ratification of a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation (“MOU”) between the City and Belize, City at the meeting.
On September 24, 2013, the City started their relationship with the establishment of a MOU with Belize City, a municipal corporation, located in Belize District in Belize, Central America (“Belize”), to express their mutual desire and interest to foster greater friendship and understanding between the City and Belize, and agree to collaborate for the mutual benefit of their respective communities by exploring educational, economic, technical, cultural, tourism, and social opportunities. This process led to the City Commission’s adoption of a resolution on August 23, 2017, to establish a Sister City Program.
Commission’s approval of this recent MOU has not only ratified their union with Belize City, but provided that the City of Miramar has the ability to build on its continuum to develop, exchange, and collaborate with Belize City in areas that impact education, economic development, technical assistance, culture, tourism, and social development; or in any other facets which the City and Belize may agree.
The aim of promoting mutual prosperity on the basis of opportunity….is Right Here in Miramar™
