[ARCHIVED] MIRAMAR JOINS THE FLORIDA TASK FORCE 2 OF USAR

The City of Miramar Fire Rescue department was given approval by the
Miramar City Commission to join the National Urban Search and Rescue (“USAR”)
Response System as a participating agency of the task force; at their board meeting on
Wednesday, February 22, 2018. This team is designed to respond to a variety of disasters, such
as earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, and hazardous materials release where victims may be
trapped, lost, or injured.


In doing so, the City will execute a Memorandum of Agreement with the City of Miami Fire
Rescue. The City of Miami Fire-Rescue, is the sponsoring agency responsible for recruiting,
training, equipment procurement, and organizing members of the Florida Task Force 2 of the
National USAR Response Team.


When taking part in this important role, all costs incurred by Miramar Fire-Rescue related to training, activation and deployment are reimbursed by the City of Miami Fire-Rescue.
