On Wednesday, February 22, 2018, Miramar City Commission approved
enlisting the Fire Rescue department in the National Urban Search and Rescue (“USAR”)
Response System as a participating agency. The USAR team responds to a variety of disasters,
such as earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, and hazardous materials where victims may be
trapped, lost, in danger or injured.
City of Miami Fire-Rescue, is the sponsoring agency in charge of recruiting, training, equipment,
procurement and organizing members of the USAR Florida Task Force 2. As a result, this new City
commitment will be officiated by a Memorandum of Agreement with the City of Miami Fire Rescue;
to solidify the City's role in this right.
When taking part in this important role, all costs incurred by Miramar Fire-Rescue related to training, activation and deployment
will be reimbursed by the City of Miami Fire-Rescue.
