City of Miramar Public Works Department Canal Clean up
The ‘Team Up to Clean Up’ Canal Clean up and exposition will take place on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at the Southern end of Linear Park on Utopia Dr & Fairway Blvd in Miramar.
Our canals do more than beautify our city and serves as an ecosystem for local wildlife, canals are also a key asset in stormwater treatment. As the stormwater moves over land, it picks up and carries away chemical pollutants, litter and debris, eventually depositing them into our waterways. We’ve all seen coconuts, branches, plastic bottles, and even large items like furniture floating in our canals. Now is a great opportunity to provide a great community service by assisting The City of Miramar Public Works Department in bagging up litter removed from the canal and learning how we can limit pollutants and debris from entering our waterways.
Check in for the cleanup will be at 9 am and the event will last until 12pm. This is a great opportunity to make Miramar a cleaner place to live, work and play. To Pre-register or for more information, please contact Greg Rust at garust@miramarfl.gov or 954-602-3278.
