[ARCHIVED] SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT PLANNING RECEIVES GREENLIGHT

Miramar City Commission approved the continuation of the City’s sidewalk replacement program at its March21, 2018 board meeting.  Metro Express, Inc. was awarded the $200,000 project.  They will be tasked with reducing defective sidewalks near parks and community centers in the City. This process will also include major and collector roadways and local neighborhood streets.

The City’s Sidewalk Replacement plan is a Capital Improvement Project (CIP) that began in 2017.  The first phase of the plan prioritized sidewalks in areas adjacent to and within the proximity of schools.  Some repairs extended themselves to local neighborhood streets.  Inclusive of fiscal year 2018, the program’s impact will be responsible for the correction of approximately two miles of defective sidewalks.

The Public Works Department Streets Maintenance program oversees the Sidewalk Replacement CIP Project; in line with their responsibility to maintain and repair of roadways including sidewalks within city-owned rights-of-ways.
