1. What is the Fleet Maintenance responsible for and how many vehicles does the City have?

The Fleet Maintenance is responsible for all City vehicles. The City's Fleet consists of:

• 193 Public Safety light-duty vehicles
• 29 Public Safety heavy-duty vehicles
• 245 light-duty vehicles
• 43 medium-duty vehicles
• 23 heavy-duty vehicles, (over 10,000 gross vehicle weight)
• 48 pieces of non-rolling stock (generator, trailers, rollers, for example)
• 34 Specialty

2. How many people work in the Fleet Department?

The Fleet Maintenance has 12 full-time and one part-time employees. They include one Fleet Supervisor, one Lead Mechanic, eight skilled mechanical technicians, one part-time mechanic trainee, one Fleet Service writer and one Fleet Procurement Specialist.

3. What service functions are performed at the Fleet Maintenance Facility?

Operated by the Public Works Department Fleet Maintenance, the Fleet Maintenance Facility performs preventive maintenance and repairs on all City owned vehicles and support equipment. The Fleet Maintenance Facility has 12 repair bays. The Fleet Maintenance utilizes a fleet maintenance software program to schedule preventative maintenance, repairs and to track vehicle history and costs. The Fleet Maintenance also manages the automated fueling system at one (1) fuel site and is responsible for ordering fuel.
