70 YEARS, 70 TREES: MIRAMAR MARKS ANNIVERSARY WITH GREEN INITIATIVE ACROSS 4 PARKS

Miramar, FL – May 19, 2025 — As part of its 70th anniversary celebration, the City of Miramar is excited to announce a green initiative to plant 70 fruit trees across four local parks. This commemorative effort is funded through the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service. The City was awarded a $22,925 Urban and Community Forestry Grant to support its tree planting efforts and promote sustainable urban agriculture.

This funding has enabled the City to move forward with planting 70 fruit trees to establish food forests across four local parks. The project demonstrates the importance of local food sources and helps to address the disparities in access to fresh produce. This initiative not only enhances the natural beauty of public spaces but serves to inspire residents to explore sustainable solutions such as urban gardening and community supported agriculture. The tree planting is being carried out by Alligator Landscaping following a competitive procurement process.
