The Social Services Department’s Youth and Family Outreach proudly serves City of Miramar residents ages 59 and younger by providing them with information, education and access to community service resources that are vital to maintaining self-sufficiency, while empowering individuals to improve their overall quality of life.

This provides a "one-stop shop" to finding information regarding services in Broward County available for youth, children, seniors, persons with disabilities and families.

How do I apply for food stamps and Medicaid?

The Department of Children and Families (DCF) has partnered with different community agencies. The City of Miramar’s Social  Services Department currently is one of DCF’s community partners. The Alexandra P. Davis, Miramar Multi-Service Complex you are able to apply for food stamps, temporary cash, Medicaid and refugee assistance electronically with the help of our courteous staff. What are your benefits programs?

EMAP (Emergency Miramar Assistance Program): is a one time emergency program for Miramar residents under the age of 59. The EMAP financial program assists with past due or final notice bill for water, light and rent up to $1000.00. This one-time assistance program is designed for Miramar residents who meet the program age and financial criteria. Funds are limited. HAP (Hardship Assistance Program): is an emergency financial assistance program to assist eligible Miramar residents experiencing a documented household hardship. HAP offers grants up to $5000.00 to assist with move in assistance, past due mortgage or rent, code violations, limited ac repair/replacement and plumbing repairs. Funds are limited. MASH (Miramar Assisting Seniors in their Homes): is a one time emergency assistance program for Miramar residents over the age of 60. MASH financial program assists with past due or final notice for water, light and rent up to $1000.00. This one-time assistance program is designed for the senior Miramar residents who meet the financial criteria. Funds are limited. EHEAEP (Emergency Home Energy Assistance for the Elderly): This program provides assistance for home-energy emergencies to qualified, low-income households with at least one person 60 years of age or older. Applicants must be Broward County residents. Income eligibility and emergency is required. Where can I find emergency food?

The Social Services Department is able to meet emergency food needs to Miramar residents via our own food pantry. Non perishable foods are distributed to Miramar residents with crisis situations. We are actively accepting donations all year round towards our Food Pantry.

Goodman Jewish Family Services provides food in partnership through distributions for income eligible persons. Food Distributions are scheduled once a month. In order to qualify, individuals must provide household income verification. This is not intended as a primary food source rather it provides supplemental food.

I need someone to talk to, can you help me?

The Social Services Department is able to provide counseling services to City of Miramar residents through our very own Social Worker. Individual counseling and group counseling is available at our centers for seniors over the age of 60 and their families. Through our qualified staff and community partnerships, the Social Services Department is able to meet your counseling needs.
