The City of Miramar has mobilized a citywide relief effort to support persons in Venezuela following the devastating earthquakes.
The Planning and Zoning Board acts as an advisory board to the City Commission on matters relating to land use, except for any variances from requirements and regulations pertaining to properties with existing or proposed single-family, duplex, and triplex residences, in which case the planning and zoning board shall have final authority. The Board act as the Local Planning Agency as provided in section F.S. § 163.3174.
The Historic Miramar Advisory Board analyzes issues affecting the historic part of the City, and make recommendations to the City Commission concerning necessary infrastructure improvements and the priority of such improvements, beautification, health and welfare issues, maintenance, future development, and/or other issues geared towards improving the quality of life of City residents.
The Floodplain Management Planning Committee acts as an advisory board to the City Commission on matters relating to floodplain management, including but not limited to participation in the Community Rating System (“CRS”) of the National Flood Insurance Program (“NFIP”), implementation and monitoring of the City’s newly adopted Floodplain Management Plan and Program for Public Information developed in accordance with the CRS credit criteria found within Activities 510 and 330 of the 2025 CRS Coordinator’s Manual, respectively, flood risk reduction, flood vulnerability minimization, and long-term resilience strategies to better protect the residents and properties of the City from the effects of flood hazards.
