City of Miramar Receives Autism-Friendly Designation
The City of Miramar is proud to have been designated as an Autism-Friendly City by the Center for Autism and Related Disabilities (CARD), a partnership initiative of the University of Miami and Nova Southeastern University. This designation, celebrated on May 19, 2025, reflects the City’s deep commitment to inclusion, accessibility, and meaningful community engagement.
As part of this ongoing effort, Miramar has implemented autism awareness training for City staff, improved the accessibility of public spaces, and continues to prioritize sensory-friendly experiences across community services. The designation highlights Miramar’s leadership in fostering a supportive environment for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families.
Communication Boards Enhance Accessibility in Public Parks

These boards, unveiled during the May 19, 2025 celebration, serve as valuable visual aids for non-verbal individuals and those with speech or language challenges, helping to bridge communication gaps in public settings.
