City to Cease Adding Fluoride in Drinking Water Effective July 1, 2025
Published on May 28, 2025
The City of Miramar will discontinue adding fluoride in its water supply, effective July 1, 2025, as mandated by State Law. This decision comes after Governor Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 700 into law on May 15, 2025, prohibiting cities from adding fluoride to their drinking water supply.
While the removal of fluoride may raise concerns among residents, it will not affect the taste or color of our drinking water. In fact, the City's drinking water continues to meet and exceed all local, federal and state regulations.
City Manager Dr. Roy L. Virgin states “The City of Miramar is committed to providing safe and high-quality drinking water to our residents. We understand that fluoride has been a controversial topic for many years, but we must comply with State law.”
The City of Miramar remains dedicated in providing excellent service while maintaining transparency with our residents. For more information visit miramarfl.gov/waterquality or contact Customer Service at (954) 602-Help (4357) or emailcustomerservice@miramarfl.gov.
